Last month’s hearings about breast implants vividly and heartbreakingly revealed what’s at stake when companies are allowed to sell medical devices that have never been proven to be safe. Dozens of women testified about the devastating health harms they’ve suffered after having breast implants. And their testimony revealed the price we pay when corporate interests are allowed to go unchecked.

Donate now! Help fund our work as the watchdog of the breast cancer movement.

Intolerable and lasting health harms from breast implants are just one example of what can go wrong when our regulatory agencies fail to listen to—and inform—women. And because Breast Cancer Action will never take corporate funding from Biotech or Pharma, you can trust we’re always ready to go toe-to-toe with industry to make sure patient interests always come first.

We believe that companies should only be allowed to sell drugs or devices that actually help people live longer or feel better. That’s why we:

  • Demand that health policy be based on patient-centered evidence, including essential safety and efficacy data;
  • Refuse shortcuts in the approval process that utilize indirect and intermediate indicators, without showing overall survival or quality of life benefits for patients;
  • Resist corporate influence in our regulatory agencies, including working to ensure that whoever replaces Dr. Gottleib as the FDA Commissioner is free from corporate ties that create a conflict of interest.

Please make a donation to Breast Cancer Action today and help us put public health first!

Thanks to members like you, we’re halfway to our goal of raising $25,000 by April 30. We get over 70 percent of our funding from individuals, which means we’re one of the only patient advocacy groups free from Pharma and biotech funding.

Donate now to help us meet our goal and to keep us independent! Your support makes our work possible. Thank you.
