By The Breast Cancer Action Team
Every time you’ve donated, taken action, or liked and shared a post you’ve played a role in achieving health justice for everyone at risk of and living with breast cancer.
As we wrap up this year, just two days before the end of 2021, we want to express our deepest gratitude for all of your support. And we want to let you know exactly how 2022 promises to be a year of growth for BCAction.
In 2022, we will be even more intentional about starting with ourselves, analyzing our processes, our culture, and our priorities, and bringing a heightened social justice and anti-racist lens to the breast cancer movement.
We know that in order to do this work, we have to first examine our own organizational values and structures. That’s why, during the first half of 2022, we will be re-envisioning our strategic plan to create a blueprint for how we will show up in the movement and the world, prioritizing centering those with the furthest relationships to power, and operationalizing these values internally and externally.
Some of the important questions we will be asking ourselves are:
How can we get real about being intersectional? How do we best center those who reside deep within the margins and who have the furthest relationships to power? How do we ensure that we are looking at the whole person: their experiences, the interconnecting systems that influence their lives, and their ability to thrive? How do we balance our tireless work to dismantle barriers to equitable healthcare while prioritizing sustainability and self-care?
These are questions that are central to our work as a health justice organization. And we have never shied away from hard truths, not when we are holding the breast cancer industry accountable, and not when we are examining our own work.
We will share the final plan with you when it is ready. In the meantime, we invite you to join us with a year-end donation.
