As you browse the Drawing the Connections collection now available in our art auction, we invite you to learn more about our upcoming virtual event program!

Drawing the Connections is a two-part event and fundraiser for BCAction: an art auction that is now open, and our Virtual Community Gathering, hosted this Tuesday, June 13th!

This will be our third annual Drawing the Connections event, and each year the program continues to inspire, build community, and highlight why the work of BCAction is so critical at this moment.

This year’s program will include:

  • Breast cancer survivor, retired graphic artist, Jewish lesbian activist, and BCAction member Susan Liroff.
  • Artist Michelle Oppenheimer, who over the past 20 years, has become well-known for composing paintings that capture the imaginative and organic possibilities of abstract watercolor and acrylic.
  • Grace Howard Karambelas, who credits her connection to the Drawing the Connections body of work to being a mother of young daughter, a two-time breast cancer survivor, and a fashion designer.
  • And Breast Cancer Action’s Executive Director KR, who will provide an update on our organization’s current work and perform a spoken word poem on equity in breast cancer.

Art moves us. And it is no surprise that when artists tell us more about their journeys and what brought them to this work, they illuminate the connections between our lived experiences, their artistic representations, and visions of health justice. You don’t want to miss it.

I’ll be your emcee on Tuesday evening – so you know we’ll have some fun! I can’t wait to see you and join in community to support our work to address and end breast cancer. See you soon!
