In 1990, our founders were angry about unresponsive government agencies and private organizations providing inadequate, superficial information on breast cancer—not the evidence-based data they were looking for. They turned that anger into action by forming Breast Cancer Action. Today, Breast Cancer Action remains an independent, rapid response watchdog, and our work is just as tenacious.
And our independence – our refusal to accept funds from any corporation that profits from or contributes to cancer – means that we can continue to tell truth to power and to hold our leaders accountable, no matter who they are.
