BREAKING NEWS: Today, thanks to you and activists across the country, the Committee on Environment & Public Works PASSED the Safe Chemicals Act.
Together we are changing the course of the breast cancer epidemic by working to bring about the regulatory change that will stop breast cancer before it starts. If signed into law, this Act will establish basic safety testing for all existing and new chemicals. This means that chemicals will be regulated for safety before, not after, they enter our communities.
As the bill moves through the many stages of becoming law, we need your support to pass this landmark legislation. We all have a responsibility to protect our communities by passing the Safe Chemicals Act.
Breast Cancer Action will be working to ensure that when the bill comes to the President’s desk for signature, it is the strongest bill possible. We know money talks and we will not let industry’s influence water down this bill. Our work isn’t over. Together we must keep up the pressure.
We are proud to celebrate this victory with our partners across the country in the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families Coalition (SCHFC) to push forward a Safe Chemicals Act that puts the burden of chemical testing and protection from harm right where it belongs—on our regulatory system.
Thank you for taking action and for supporting Breast Cancer Action’s work to stop breast cancer before it starts.
